Once you smell Lemon Verbena, you’ll want to start growing it just to have the scent around your home. At my farmers market this past weekend, the Kenter Canyon booth pulled some out and I could smell it a booth away. I purchased a huge bunch and really just wanted to make a necklace out of it so I could smell it all day long.
Happy National Ice Cream Day! Not that we need an excuse, right? Now of course you could just go for a boring old scoop of something… or you can make this super easy Ice Cream Pie. Perfect for a summer get together/BBQ.
Strawberries are back in season. Luckily for us on the West Coast and close to Oxnard, the Strawberry growing mecca, there is only a very short period of time that we don’t have strawberries at the farmers market. And now that it’s heating up it’s time to make strawberry popsicles from scratch. Who needs all those additives when in less then 10 minutes you can have all natural (hopefully organic) homemade strawberry popsicles ready to place in the freezer! All you need are three ingredients: strawberries, a sweetener and a smidge of lemon juice.
So this recipe starts with the fact that I love raisins. Always have, always will. I’m always on the hunt for a great organic raisin that is plump and moist, since most of them are usually shriveled up and super dry.
Make the most of the end of season peaches you’ll still find at your farmers market. There are so many great dishes to create, like my favorite Peach Crisp. But here’s a delicious breakfast/snack/dessert you could make in no time.
