Happy Guacamole Day!

Ok, confession time… I honestly never liked guacamole until I tried a batch my husband whipped up a few years back. Man, had I been missing out! I like to think it’s because his was made with love… and fresh ingredients!  This Classic Guacamole recipe is super easy to make.  We love having it in the fridge so this is a big batch recipe, perfect for a party or to pig out on for a few days.  Of course, you can cut it in half … but why would you want to???

All you need to make this fresh is a knife to chop, a spoon to scoop and a fork to mush.  Easy peesy!

By the way, I will always encourage you to buy organic but if you can’t find organic avocados remember that these are on the ‘clean fifteen’ list of  foods with less pesticides. Yeah!

Classic Guacamole

Total Time: 25 minutes

1 big batch!

Classic Guacamole

Once you have this classic recipe down, make it your own by adding more heat! You can also make this as smooth or as chunky as you'd like by mushing and chopping more (or less).

This is good to go right away but stick it in the refrigerator for an hour and it will be even better!

Ingredients

  • 8 medium ripe avocados
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp peper
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of your favorite hot sauce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped jalepenos

Instructions

  1. Scoop out avocados into a bowl.
  2. Add all seasonings.
  3. With a fork, start mashing the avocados, mixing in the seasonings at the same time. Be sure to leave some chunks of avocado.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, onions and jalepenos and stir together.
