Naked Infusions Salsa: Interview and Giveaway

When you see a booth at the Farmers Market that says Get Naked, your curiosity is going to get the better of you. I’m glad I moved in for a closer look, because there was Naked Infusions Salsa.  Organic. Non-GMO. California sourced. Delicious.

The flavors were great, the consistency perfect and I wanted to grab a jar for my salsa loving hubby. But wait… which one? There are eight flavors in the Naked Infusions line. I knew I was going to get a traditional salsa but what about the Oaxaca White Chocolate?  Or the Black Silk Espresso? And who came up with these amazing combos?

That would be Selene, owner and creator of Naked Infusions.  Transplanted farm girl from Kansas, mom, and health care professional, Selene has always tried to find the salsa she grew up eating and loving.  After moving to LA and still not finding that taste from her childhood she decided to create it herself. (Isn’t that how the most amazing products come together?) Using only organic ingredients sourced from California farmers and two years of trial and error, Naked Infusions Signature line came to be: mild, medium and extra hot.  Following close behind: Fire Roasted Garlic, Rustic Blue Cheese, California Burnt Sage, Oaxaca White Chocolate and Black Silk Espresso. According to Selene, the White Chocolate is the most complex, with a hint of sweet, spicy and creamy all in one. A pairing tip would be to use this in a lasagna dish instead of a tomato sauce.

Talking with Selene, you can hear the passion and pride in her product… and a few deep but exhilarating sighs when talking about the process of becoming not only certified organic but certified non-GMO. These salsa’s are as close as you can get to homemade: no added sugars, no vinegars, gluten free, kosher. The flavors are pure.

The quick growth of Naked Infusions is inspiring. Within six months of certification last year she was in Whole Foods and Sprouts. Last month alone she got 165 more stores.  Obviously Selene isn’t making these batches in her kitchen anymore, but she’s hands on in fulfilling all orders. Selene is pretty content with her current lineup of flavors but she did add some organic tortilla chips for your (healthier) dipping pleasure.

      I haven’t tried the blue cheese yet but the garlic is awesome! That’s the one I used for my Veggie Sloppy Joes recipe.
