For the last six years, Andrew, over at Eating Rules, has held the October Unprocessed Challenge. It’s based on the simple idea of going just one month without eating any processed foods. And, hopefully, that one month may spill over to two… or three. Or at least open our eyes to changes we can make in our daily eating choices.
And to make it easier, for the entire month of October, he posts tips, recipes, and guidelines to help you on your way. I love October Unprocessed because it gives me a bit of a kick-in-the-butt reminder of what I’m putting in my mouth.
Head on over and check it out. Today he has posted my Homemade Sriracha recipe, which is super fun and rewarding to make. My hubby loves when I make this hot sauce from scratch!
I’d say 99% of the recipes on this site use unprocessed ingredients. Look through them and bookmark your favorites for the challenge. And here are a few DIY recipes of items you might buy prepackaged that you can definitely make yourselves to help you get through October Unprocessed… or any month, really.
